MRSG is calling for submissions for local sustainability projects, with a funding pool of up to $10,000 available to help kickstart community-led innovations across the Macedon Ranges.
Whether it's a clever idea an MRSG Action Group is keen to get off the ground or a project a community member has been dreaming up on their own, we want to hear about it. Funding of up to $2000 is available per project.
MRSG invites members and friends to come together for a new monthly sustainability social and networking event we’re calling Green Drinks.
The first Green Drinks is on Thursday 6 August, 6–7pm, at the Mountain Shed, Victoria Hotel, Woodend. No need to book. Attendance is free and drinks are available for purchase.
After running for three successful years as the Riddells Creek Cool Changes Enviro‑Energy Expo, the event will return in 2027 under a refreshed and simplified name: the Riddells Creek Sustainability Festival.
While renewable energy, environmental information and climate‑positive action will remain at the core, the new “festival” identity reflects a broader vision. The 2027 event aims to bring together sustainability, culture, creativity and entertainment in a community celebration for all ages.
The Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group (MRSG) is proud to announce that it has submitted two nominations for the Macedon Ranges Shire Council Community Awards 2026, recognising outstanding contributions to sustainability, health, and community wellbeing across the region.
The 2026 Changemakers Macedon Ranges Festival was a success, with more than 850 people taking part across the 15‑day program, with over half attending a Changemakers event for the very first time. This growing participation reflects a clear and encouraging trend: our community’s increasing interest in practical, local climate action.

Opening with the Riddells Creek Enviro-Energy Expo on Saturday 21 March, the festival is a fortnight of interactive, practical and thought-provoking climate and sustainability events – all free. MRSG has a strong standing in the community for practical action on climate change. Be a part of the change and come along.
Across the two weeks, ChangeMakers will bring people together to learn and take action through inspiring workshops, locals teaching locals info sessions, author talks, film screenings and, of course, Eco Story & Rhyme Times in local libraries.
When the devastating Harcourt bushfires struck on 9 January 2026, our community stepped forward. Homes, livelihoods, and a sense of safety were lost in minutes — but the response showed the strength of people coming together. MRSG proudly donated $1,000 to the Harcourt Progress Relief Fund and encourages our community to support Harcourt’s recovery in any way they can.
$156,654 worth of rebates and discounts were saved by the 55 participant’s in GREG’s Bulk buy of the Australian made Reclaim heat pump with a long lasting stainless steel tank in the 2025 project.
Ten enthusiastic members join MRSG’s governance team, bringing fresh energy and skills to support local sustainability projects. Outgoing president Lenka Thompson praised the dedication of members and action groups, while new president Robert Bruhn looks forward to strengthening community connections and expanding MRSG’s impact in the year ahead.
MRSG was recently offered the option to enable Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) through Klarna via our online payment provider, Stripe, utilised on our website. After careful consideration, the MRSG Committee has decided not to allow Klarna or any BNPL services on our payment gateways. We have also resolved not to adopt any BNPL options across our payment systems in the future.

Sunday 23 March, 12-3pm, at the Kyneton Mechanic Institute Reserve. Bring your own picnic blanket and food to share, meet some other locals and listen to the sweet tunes of local music. This picnic also coincides with Kyneton Backyard Growers’ 1 year celebration of gathering local growers and providing free fresh fruit and vegetables to the residents of Kyneton.
