Washing Against Waste One Cup at a Time

A joint project between Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group and Macedon Ranges Shire Council in 2019-20 has resulted in a terrific Wash Against Waste trailer, which goes a long way in reducing single use plastic and cardboard waste at events and festivals in the Macedon Ranges.

The heart of this trailer is an industrial-quality, energy-efficient dishwasher that washes crockery, cutlery and glass at high temperatures ensuring compliance with strict hygiene standards.

After a successful trial at the Woodend Farmers’ Market, we are now open for bookings. You will soon see this trailer in action at all events and festivals across the Macedon Ranges.

A big thank you to Lisa Richards and Peter Lane from MRSG for driving this project and researching the design, Chris Matheson for constructing the trailer, and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council for the funding and other support.

If you buy coffee or food at a Farmers’ Market or festival near you, make sure you ask for it in a reusable cup.
