The first day of May was crisp but sunny, a beautiful day for a farm crawl. Never been on a farm crawl before? Meg Sheehan from Transition Streets Romsey and Veg Action hosted this event as an opportunity to get to know your grower.
In August this year, the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group (MRSG) was successful in securing a significant grant in the Victorian Government’s Neighbourhood Battery Initiative.
MRSG’s Sustainable Homes action group has just completed a project to reduce the energy for winter heating at Woodend Neighbourhood House funded by the Stronger Communities Programme from the Federal government.
Several conditions and events in recent years have intersected to bring us to a moment of change regarding the future of the Woodend Permaculture Garden.
A joint project between Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and local business, the Woodend Woodsman, during COVID lockdowns last year has resulted in a terrific Wash against Waste trailer which will go a long way in reducing disposable plastic waste at events and festivals in the Macedon Ranges.
Malmsbury Primary School, with support from Sustainable Malmsbury volunteers and a grant from Macedon Ranges Shire Council, has reduced their annual electricity use from the grid by one third. Learn how you can do the same at your home or small business.
Hot on the heels of the Neighbourhood House’s solar installation, we’re set to resume work on draughtproofing and secondary glazing works planned earlier this year.
A massive 31 panel solar power system has been installed this week on the Woodend Neighbourhood House thanks to funding from the MASH community solar bulk-buy and Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group (MRSG).

Thanks to grants from Bank Australia and Central Victoria Greenhouse Alliance/MASH and local leg-work from MRSG’s Sustainable Malmsbury action group the Malmsbury Fire Brigade will no longer have to worry about power outages during the bushfire season.
We are pleased to announce that the MRSG trialling a Proof of Concept for Farmers' Market Online, which will offer a direct link between local producers and shoppers and will operate in complement to the Woodend Farmers' Market. Farmers' Market Online is a social enterprise with all proceeds going directly to the farmers, producers, and volunteer organisations that assist.
