MEET OUR AGM GUEST SPEAKER: PROFESSOR LAUREN RICKARDS
Professor Lauren Rickards is one of Australia's leading experts on climate change impacts, adaptation and resilience. She is Chair of Climate Change Adaptation and Director of the Climate Change Adaptation Lab at La Trobe University, where she leads innovative research into how climate change is affecting the communities, industries and institutions that sustain our way of life, and what meaningful adaptation looks like in practice.
Lauren's work spans agriculture, water, government, health, education, emergency management and regional development, with a particular focus on helping organisations and communities navigate increasingly complex climate risks. She has also been at the forefront of research examining how climate change is reshaping work itself, including the growing challenges of adapting to and responding to climate impacts.
An internationally recognised scholar, Lauren was a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report and recently helped lead research into governance risks for Australia's inaugural National Climate Risk Assessment. She was also recently recognised as Australia's highest-ranked geographer based on the impact of her research.
Originally from Bendigo, Lauren brings a deep understanding of regional and rural Australia, combined with experience working across academia, government and industry. A Rhodes Scholar with degrees from the University of Melbourne and the University of Oxford, she is widely respected for connecting rigorous research with practical action.
Join us at the MRSG AGM to hear Lauren share her insights into climate change, adaptation and building resilient and thriving regional communities.
