A joint project between Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group, Macedon Ranges Shire Council and local business, the Woodend Woodsman, during COVID lockdowns last year has resulted in a terrific Wash against Waste trailer which will go a long way in reducing disposable plastic waste at events and festivals in the Macedon Ranges. The heart of this trailer is an industrial quality, energy efficient dishwasher that washes crockery, cutlery and glass at high temperatures ensuring compliance with strict hygiene standards. During the Winter months you will see this trailer in action next to Raffael’s Coffee at the Woodend Community Farmers’ Market. After the next Macedon Ranges Sustainable Living Festival on October 2nd, the Wash against Waste trailer will be available for hire for other community groups and organisations in the Macedon Ranges. Bookings will be available via the MRSG website. A big thank you to Lisa Richards and Peter Lane from MRSG for driving this project and researching the design, Chris Matheson for constructing the trailer, and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council for the funding and other support.

If you are buying a coffee from Raffael at the next Woodend Community Farmers’ Market, make sure that you ask for it in a ceramic cup.
