Farmers' Market Online Proof of Concept is Live
We are pleased to announce that the MRSG trialling a Proof of Concept for Farmers' Market Online, which will offer a direct link between local producers and shoppers and will operate in complement to the Woodend Farmers' Market. Farmers' Market Online is a social enterprise with all proceeds going directly to the farmers, producers, and volunteer organisations that assist.
Shopping online enables you to secure your essential items early (before they sell out at the market), know you are buying local, support the local economy, and shop in the most sustainable way, with minimal food miles, packaging, or waste. The one-stop, outdoor pick up is ideal for those wishing to minimise their time in a market or shopping environment. You will also be able to collect your shopping on non-Woodend Market days on the third Saturday of each month.
The website is now open and ready for you to shop from.
Please click here to start shopping.
The initial Proof of Concept stage features 5 local producers -
Hand to Ground - Pasture-raised free-range eggs
Sandor's Harvest - Gourmet mushrooms, potatoes & seasonal vegetable boxes
Beth Shan - Woodend based hand made preserves and jams
Olives Olives - Kyneton grown Table Olives & Olive Pastes
Millett Road Maker - Authentic Sour Dough Bread made in Gisborne
The ordering process is simple:
Patrons buy items across multiple farms in one shopping basket. At checkout, a date option is selected for pick up - currently the first and third Saturdays of the month.
Farmers Market Online splits the orders and sends to the individual Farmers;
On the First & Third Saturday morning the Farmer delivers items ordered to the distribution centre;
Farmers’ Market Online combines items from various farms into patrons’ orders;
Patrons collect their orders on their selected Saturday between 11 am-1 pm from our distribution centre;
Uncollected orders are given to local charities.
We hope the proof of concept will be a success and that this becomes a welcome extension to the Woodend Farmers’ Market and our aims to secure a local food supply and promote sustainable agricultural practices in the Macedon Ranges.
