Malmsbury Primary School Fair
Malmsbury Primary School Community Fair lived up to its theme of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ on Saturday 19th October.
The children made paper decorations and signs, beeswax wraps and potted plants and picked school-grown produce. The parents and generous community members made baked goods, homemade lemonade, soup and curries.
The art exhibition, ninja parkour course and science stall showcased reused materials. The books, clothing, lucky dip and ‘trash and treasure’ stalls gave pre-loved items a new lease on life.
At the Sustainable Malmsbury stall, we had information and a quiz on energy efficiency to get people chatting and sharing ideas. We also organised to borrow the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group food van, which included trays, mugs and cups. Plates and bowls were borrowed from the Malmsbury Town Hall. Dishes were done in the van and in the school staff room.
Food waste was taken down to the chooks and compost. The leftover soup and scones were served to the children for lunch the next week. What a team effort!
The end result was a wonderful day and next to no litter or waste.
Congratulations #teamMalmsbury!
