If you’re feeling the cold this winter, you’re not alone.
The article at the link below, published by The Conversation, contains useful tips in regards to efficient use of energy within the home and how to keep warm in these cold winter months.
The article’s primary focus is on households that are experiencing energy poverty; where a household is unable to properly heat or cool their home or face significant financial difficulty doing so. However, the energy saving tips are applicable to everyone, and as well as saving dollars, in many cases will also reduce electricity demand and in turn green house gas emmisions.
MRSG’s Healthy Homes project specifically targets low-income households within the Macedon Ranges, supplying practical advice and assistance with energy efficiency upgrades, such as installtion of insulation and draft proofing, at no cost to the householder.
As Australia’s energy crisis deepens we are likely to see increasing rates of energy poverty where local households are unable to keep their home warm, leading to detrimental health impacts for the occupants.
