Walks against Waste in the Macedon Ranges

  • Kyneton Botanic Gardens Mollison St Kyneton, VIC, 3444 Australia (map)

The Waste Action Group is organising a walk on Sunday 16th May meeting at the entrance to the Kyneton Botanic Gardens (Corner Mollison and Clowes St) at 2:50 for a 3pm start. We plan to walk along the river to the Race Course and back (approx 5km) with the aim to enjoy the environment and pick up any rubbish along the way. Bring along gloves, SunSmart and ‘snake friendly’ attire as well as a bag for rubbish collection. After the walk, everyone is welcome to join us at the Albion Hotel, Kyneton around 4pm for our monthly WasteEd meeting.

This is to be the first of several walks we aim to hold throughout the year in any number of locations and terrains within the Macedon Ranges. Our aim is to enjoy the walk and the surrounds but to also clean up any litter along the way. This will then go towards an audit of the extent and types of rubbish found. If considered to be problematic, we will engage with MRSC to let them know the locations where litter and/or dumping are an issue.

Locations and lengths of future walks will be circulated closer to their proposed dates Suggestions of walks will be gratefully received. The Waste Action Group is organising a walk on Sunday 16th May meeting at the entrance to the Kyneton Botanic Gardens (Corner Mollison and Clowes St) at 2:50 for a 3pm start.
