Mount Alexander Sustainability Group is running a Sustainable Housing Education Day in Castlemaine on Sunday May 19th. Be inspired by what four local residents of the Mount Alexander Shire have achieved with their homes and find out how they did it.
There is a rammed earth home and a mud brick home on the tour this year, both with permaculture gardens. There is also a low cost sustainable home made especially for someone with low mobility. The final home on the tour this year is a retrofitted home that achieved 9 stars in the Victorian Government’s Scorecard rating system.
For the final hour of the day there will be a panel discussion featuring speakers form the local Eco-Housing group MAEG. Each panelist has a different set of ideas about how we can create affordable, ecologically friendly homes for people of all ages.
Tickets $30 full, $20 concession, $50 couple/ family
