Winning winter recipes from the Macedon Ranges
Last month, Veg Action hosted the Range’s first ever Master Chef style recipe competition: The Winter Veg Recipe Competition. This competition was a celebration of local seasonal vegetables, and the creativity of our local home cooks.
A team of community testers collectively shortlisted submitted recipes, sending the top 3 to judges Cr Janet Pearce (Mayor, Macedon Ranges Shire Council), Jackie Goodyear (Jed Café) and David Gormley O’Brien (MRSG’s President) for final selection of the winners. If you missed the final instalment of the judging process, which was beamed out live on facebook, you can watch it here on Veg Action’s Youtube channel: https://youtu.be/xMubuHW1F78
The winner of the competition was Heather Potter with her Potato and Kale Curry, and Barry McDonald came a very very close second with his dish titled The Columbian Sisters! They are pictured with their fabulous prizes from Farmers’ Market Online below. The third shortlisted recipe was a Kerela Veggie Stew from Janet Maruzza, who is already preparing to submit for next year.
Since the competition ended, we have been beating back requests for the recipes.
So here, good reader, are the top 3. And if you’re looking for panch phora, you’ll find it in Watts Fresh in Kyneton.
You’re Welcome.
