What’s happening with Terracycle?
LOTS!
First, we are super excited to let you know that we won a photo competition with Terracycle! Our prize is a free Zero Waste box and we have a special plan in place for our prize: We will be gifting the box to Macedon Primary School who have worked so hard this year to reduce waste at the school. Thanks kids! We hope they will be able to make use of either an Office Supplies Waste Box or an Art Supplies Waste Box before the end of the year.
Second, Woodend has a new collection point for Terracycle. The Woodend Neighbourhood House has set up a Terracycle collection unit where you can drop off everything that you usually take to the Woodend Farmers’ Market. This means you no longer have to wait a month between drop-offs, and there is somewhere you can go during the week. We will continue at Woodend Farmers’ Market in December, but in 2020 there will be some changes to the way we work with local community organisations to provide more collection points around the Macedon Ranges.
Lastly, we are currently stopping our collection of milk bottle tops. Envision are no longer collecting tops from new groups as they are inundated with them! So hang onto your bottle tops, the Waste Action team are on the lookout for more places we can recycle them.
