The State of Waste in Australia – Dr Joe Pickin
Dr Joe Pickin – Director, Blue Environment

Dr Joe Pickin is a waste specialist with a PhD on the environmental economics of waste and over 20 years' experience as a researcher, analyst and consultant. He has a broad understanding of waste issues and particular expertise in data, modelling and carbon emissions from waste. Joe was the primary author of the National Waste Report 2018 and chairs the National Carbon Division of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia. He will be discussing the findings of the National Waste Report and the current situation with waste management in Australia.

What a Waste! – Lisa Richards

Lisa Richards is an experienced community development worker and grassroots campaigner. A passionate recycler, Lisa will discuss local community action to reduce waste, and how to join the War on Waste. She will cover common FAQs and myths about waste and recycling, and steps to take if you want to cut out plastic, break up with disposables, repurpose your organic waste and become a recycling ninja.
